Grandparent DNA Testing
Our grandparent DNA test determines the statistical probability that a grandparent is biologically related to their grandchild. The cost of the DNA test includes testing of the samples from 1 grandparent and 1 grandchild; additional people can be tested at an added cost. The inclusion of both grandparents can greatly increase the accuracy of the test. If only one grandparent is available, including one known parent, perhaps the grandchild's mother can help us provide a much more accurate result.
Unlike a DNA paternity test which will always provide a conclusive result, a grandparentage test is different. When a grandparentage DNA test is conducted, the laboratory will determine the genetic profile of the alleged relatives based on the genetic markers exhibited by each person; following this, a relationship index is calculated. If the relationship index is less than 1.00, this would suggest the absence of a biological relationship; if the relationship index is more than 1.00 this would suggest that there is a biological relationship. The probability of relationship will be expressed as a percentage and the higher the percentage, the more likely that the grandparent tested is the biological relative of their grandchild.
There are other tests which may be more suitable such as a Y chromosome test which can be conducted between a grandfather and a grandson. The Y-chromosome test determines paternal lineage. Please contact us for further information and guidance.

All DNA testing kits are sent complimentary by Express Post. The kits are sent discreetly and there is no mention of "DNA test" kit on the outside of the express post envelope. There is nothing on our return address or packages to indicate the nature of the product inside!
For home DNA test kit orders within Australia:
All kits sent by express post are normally received in only 2 working days.

GTL Australia is an international company and our partners have administration offices in over 18 countries. We have the ability to send testing kits abroad with ease depending on the type of test required.
Kits can be sent by express mail or a courier service and we will advise the additional costs for you.

When home DNA test kits are shipped:
All orders received by 4pm, Monday to Friday will be dispatched the same day. GTL Australia do not dispatch or receive DNA kits at weekends or on public holidays.

Our Refund Policy
Samples must be submitted within 3 months of case initiation or the case will be closed. Refunds will be issued only if applied for within 15 days of the order date. Refunds for orders involving test kits only will not be issued. Full details on our refund policy can be found here.
